The 2008 Presidential Election is only a couple months away, so naturally it would be fitting for us to have an Election inspired Feature. Let’s Connect. Politic. Ditto. will be an ongoing series of articles and photoshoots dedicated to the good old U.S. of A and will continue until the election is held in November. For Part I of the series, we hit up Democratic Presidential Nominee Barack Obama’s office in Illinois. As many of you know, Mr. Obama played some ball back in the day, so it wasn’t surprising to see plenty of bball kicks in his office.
Janelle, Obama’s top Secret Service Agent, was pretty adament at not allowing us to take pictures at first. Something about protecting National Security (don’t ask me how sneakers translate into National Security), but after we laid some of the PREMIUM+ charm down, she conceded and we got a closer look into the Senator’s collection.
Either Obama is a big fan of Nelly or just a collector of limited Barkley’s, because when the “Air Derrty” Max2 CB ’94s dropped in 2003 at select NikeTown’s including NikeTown Chicago, it looks like Obama had one of his aides scoop up a pair. Limited to 1,000 units, the special edition CB ’94 sports a patent leather sport royal/white/varsity red colorway and has the text “Air Derrty” on the tongue.
