To put it bluntly, they really “Don’t give a fuck.” To boundaries, that is. These two strong minded women from North Cali now reside in the City of Lost Angels, launching their female streetwear brand, Weekend Warriors. Centered around female empowerment and powerful messages, Desi and Bri want to prove that on any given Sunday, pussy can prevail when you’re a Weekend Warrior.
Ladies, can you introduce yourselves? Who are you and what do you do?
Desi: My name is Desi and I am the co-founder of Weekend Warriors.
Bri: I’m Bri! and I’m the other half of Weekend Warriors.
Tell us about the concept behind Weekend Warriors, and why the name? Sounds so tough and rough.
Bri: Because we’re tough and rough (laughing). It’s a women’s empowerment movement. We’re trying to give a voice to women who want to say whatever they feel like they can’t say in the real world.
Desi: Weekend Warriors is a lifestyle of the everyday woman.
Is it Beyonce ring on finger’ish, or Queen Latifah/Roxanne Shante’ish? in terms of the style of woman empowerment?
Bri: More like a FUCK YOU to every stereotype and boundary society has put on women.
Desi: It’s a Fiona Apple, Lorena Bobbit, Courtney Love type of movement.
Oh wow (Places hands over crotch for safety), I can see the Warrior in it.
Bri: Be afraid!
Oh I am! Your first season came out with some strong messages, one being the “Pussy Prevails” shirt. Tell us about the response to it.
Bri: That was actually more of a promo/kickoff before the first season actually dropped, to give an idea of what we’re coming with. Everybody still asks if we’re going to release it again.
Desi: We continue to get such a strong response from it, men and women alike are both begging for it.
Bri: So we might hit ‘em with the concept a little different this time.
Desi: In the end, pussy DOES prevail.
Hold on. Rewind.
Bri: Can you imagine a dude rockin’ that tee? They really do ask for it. (Laughs)
Men were begging for it?
Bri: YES!!!
Desi: I actually was just asked for it yesterday by a dude.
Ok, sidebar… Fellas, let’s get a grip on it, will ya? Can we stop being the “new women,” yea? Ok, sidebar over.
Bri: (Laughs) Desi says it best. Tell ‘em Des!
Desi: (Laughing) Nah, it’s nice to see that a man can admit that pussy fuckin’ prevails.
Bri: Men aren’t the new women, they’re the new…..
Desi: Bitches! (Laughs)
